SALON is an initiative to build relationships between NSW artists/producers and presenters, regional and metro: a small-scale, lo-fi conversation starter without the bells and whistles of a full-blown showcase.
NSW artists, producers and presenters, regional and metro, have identified a lack of opportunities for connecting and building relationships across the state, and Arts on Tour is working on ways to address this.
SALON is a platform for Pecha Kucha-style pitches from artists and producers to facilitate connections with NAPACA members and community venues around work.
We're gearing up for our 5th Salon, this time at Redfern Town Hall on Wednesday 19 June. We've had our largest number of applications to pitch yet, and we're excited about the quality and range of work currently being made around NSW.
What to expect...
- Pitches from NSW based artists and companies
- Presenter introductions and insights to their programming
- Networking opportunities
- Place at the Table: an informal pitching opportunity connecting producers and presenters
We've had many opportunities arise from our previous Salons including tours, collaborations and creative developments. Expect the unexpected and be open to new possibilities. We also invite you to enjoy a drink on us at the end of the day to continue those conversations.
“We were given a platform to introduce ourselves and our work which was very exciting and encouraging. We learnt about regional venues and opportunities that were previously unknown to us, different ways to pitch, and what sort of work has touring potential.” Participant from 2018 Salon
Event date: Wednesday 19 June
Event time: 2.00 - 6.00pm
Venue: Redfern Town Hall, 73 Pitt Street Redfern
Price: $55 (plus booking fee) or free for unwaged, unfunded independent artists and companies
In 2019 we have two SALONS. The first will be held in Sydney at Redfern Town Hall on Wednesday 19 June 2019 and the second is in Tamworth as a prelude to Artstate on Thursday 31 October 2019.
Selected artists/producers present pitches of up to 5 minutes each. These pitches may be tour ready work, works in development and ideas looking for partnerships.
Selected presenters pitch their organisation: their programming aspirations and approaches, their audiences, capacity and partnership opportunities
Pitches were from all genres of the performing arts and from productions looking to tour to both metro and regional venues, large and small in 2020 and beyond.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
